Applied Research Methods – Summer Course 2022

Focussing on Hard-to-Reach populations, the course provides an introduction to research methods in conducting research, both qualitative and quantitative, on marginal, hidden and excluded population such as children, migrants, refugees and displaced people, sex workers, homeless, victims of conflicts or trafficking, HIV/AIDS, and drug users.

2019 CESS/Essex Summer School

The Summer School provides students with a thorough introduction to experimental methods. Instructors from CESS and beyond will cover different modules and two exceptional lecturers with varied research backgrounds will give talks on topics related to social science experiments. Students will have the opportunity to work with the popular experiment programming software oTree, and present their own work for discussion and feedback.

2018 CESS/Essex Summer School – Introduction to experiments

The course covers the design, implementation, and analytic tools necessary for conducting social science experiments. Lectures will cover topics including causal inference and experimental design, econometric analysis of experimental data and topics related to lab, field and online experiments.
